Azilal rugs originate from the high Atlas Mountains and are handwoven by Berber Amazigh tribe women. Each rug has its unique design and story. Their wool tends to be finer, they are simplistic and usually have a geometric design. The design of an Azilal rug is highly distinctive and typically features vibrant colours on a creamy background. The rugs are made of 100% lambswool from sheep that live in the Azilal area of the Atlas Mountains. The rugs are loosely woven with knots made every third row, which makes them lighter and more flexible rugs.
